Invisalign is a clear aligner treatment developed by the U.S.-based company Align Technology, which has already straightened the teeth of 10 million patients (as of 2021) and is considered the world’s most advanced method of clear aligner treatment. Clear aligner therapy uses custom-made, thin, removable plastic aligners that are replaced every 7 to 10 days according to the treatment plan.
This ensures that the aligners apply the right amount of force to the teeth at the right time, making the treatment highly effective. In addition, because the aligners are transparent, Invisalign treatment is virtually unnoticeable and does not cause the sores and chafing on the lips that are common with traditional braces.
Invisalign orthodontic treatment is suitable for both minor cosmetic corrections and more extensive and complex bite corrections. We provide treatment for patients of all ages. We use digital treatment planning, which means you can view a 3D treatment plan of your teeth before starting treatment. The duration of Invisalign treatment can be as short as a few months, while in more complex cases, treatment time can approach two years. Treatment costs vary between 4000 €–7000 €.
While new technologies play their role in making orthodontics more comfortable, discreet and effective, they have not reduced the role of the human touch in the treatment. In the end, tools are just tools.
During the planning and progression of treatment, a number of critical choices are made about the desired outcome, tooth movement angles, tooth shaping and, in the most severe bite problems, possible tooth extractions. The skills and experience of the dentist, as well as the trust and communication between the patient and the dental staff play a crucial role.
Our staff has experience in correcting hundreds of bite problems and finishing smiles. We pay attention to every detail, down to the gum line. Aesthetic, or more limited, orthodontic treatments are carried out to a high standard by both our general dentists and specialist dentists. For more challenging aesthetic and bite-related treatments, you should contact our orthodontic specialists directly (see end of article).
Invisalign orthodontic treatment always starts with a consultation. During this visit, we identify the goals and possibilities of orthodontic treatment. You will also have the opportunity to visit our practice. You will receive an estimate of the duration and cost of treatment and, if necessary, we will refer you for a dental check-up before starting orthodontic treatment.
If you decide to start orthodontic treatment with us, you will be booked for a digital dental modeling appointment after any needed basic treatment. At the same visit, you will also have the initial photographs of your teeth taken. Your treatment plan will be completed in a few weeks and we will send it to you in 3D format for you to view. Once you've approved the plan, we'll order your clear aligners. The delivery time for the aligners is about two weeks.
At the initial visit to the orthodontist, we will fit the first aligners (membranes) and go over the use and cleaning of the aligners. If necessary, small tooth-coloured plastic clasps are placed on the teeth to make the aligners work better. The aligners should be worn at least 20-22 hours a day and changed every 7-10 days. Water can be drunk with the aligners on, but they should be removed when drinking or eating anything else. If necessary, you can also remove the aligners for an important event or similar. However, it is very important for the treatment that you use the prescribed amount of aligners, otherwise the orthodontic treatment will not make the desired progress.
The progress of the orthodontic treatment is monitored at the dentist's office every 4-6 weeks. At these check-ups, if necessary, the gaps between the teeth are also shaved, which is a common way of creating more space for crowded teeth. A maximum of 0.5 mm per tooth space is safely shaved from each interdental space. Sometimes, in clear aligner orthodontics, e.g. small rubber bands are also used behind the teeth.
Once the orthodontic treatment is complete, we move on to the retention phase. Retention means preventing the teeth from moving. Retention is carried out either with a steel retention wire attached behind the teeth, or with a retention membrane mainly used at night, or both.
The clear aligners (membranes) should be used in the prescribed amount. If the aligners are not used, the orthodontic treatment will not proceed as desired. In addition, you should always remove the membranes yourself for eating. However, this is very simple. In some patients, orthodontic treatment can initially make your "s":s sound a bit hissing, and when changing the membranes, the teeth may feel a little tender.
Consultation visits with our general dentists are free of charge. We charge a fee for visits involving impressions and X-rays 1500 €–2000 €, and you will be billed for your first actual orthodontic visit 500 € depending on the extent of orthodontic treatment. After that, the cost will be approximately 500 € in installments spread out over the duration of orthodontic treatment, until the agreed-upon cost of treatment is covered.
We also have financing options available – you can get the first 12 months interest-free!
Orthodontic consultations are free of charge by the majority of our general dentists. Consultations with dental specialists are subject to a fee (79 €).

orthodontic treatment, laminates
We set out to correct the asymmetry caused by Soinnu’s missing lateral incisors using a combination of clear aligners and veneers. Invisalign treatment is a discreet way to straighten teeth, and Soinnu’s treatment took about 12 months. The veneers placed on the surface of the teeth are ultra-thin; for this reason, the teeth were ground down as little as possible.
Tomi hoped the treatment would improve both the aesthetics and functionality of his teeth. The treatment consisted of orthodontic alignment, replacement of a previous ceramic bridge, restoration of six upper front teeth with ceramic crowns, and replacement of two teeth with dental implant crowns. The entire treatment took approximately 12 months.
"An estimate made elsewhere would have required permanent braces for several years, tooth extractions, an uncertain outcome and at least twice the budget. With Invisalign, progress was daily, effortless, and others barely noticed that treatment was underway! The end result was achieved faster than initially planned."
