Oral and maxillofacial surgery refers to the diagnostics of diseases, accidents and deficiencies of the bite organ and related tissues, as well as their surgical and other treatment.
Procedures include, among other things, the demanding surgical removal of unerupted wisdom teeth, the placement of implants, or artificial roots, in the jawbone, surgical cleaning of the inflamed root tip, removal of gingival overgrowths, and treatment of accidents. The field also includes the treatment of oral diseases, such as mucosal diseases.
To receive surgical treatment or a consultation with a surgeon, you must first see your primary care dentist. So, please schedule an appointment for a dental checkup if it has been more than 2 years since your last one, or for a 30-minute office visit.
