Susanna Kanerva
Specialist Dentist in Orthodontics
I am an orthodontist with extensive and diverse professional experience. I enjoy treating patients of all ages, and orthodontic care for children and adolescents is particularly close to my heart. I treat a wide range of malocclusions and always tailor treatment plans to each patient’s individual needs, taking into account their growth and developmental stage. Thorough diagnostics and individually tailored treatment are the foundation of successful orthodontic care.
I also have extensive experience as a university instructor for dental students and dentists specializing in orthodontics. Teaching has deepened my expertise and kept me up to date on the latest research and developments in the field. In my work, I utilize treatment methods based on current research evidence and always evaluate treatment options on a case-by-case basis. I also hold a position of trust in my own specialty, serving on the board of the Orthodontics Division, where we organize, among other things, professional continuing education for specialist dentists.
In my practice, I use aligners (such as Invisalign), traditional and aesthetic tooth-colored ceramic fixed braces (“braces”), as well as all types of removable and fixed orthodontic appliances used in the orthodontic treatment of children and adolescents. At my practice, I also treat temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscle problems and make sleep apnea splints. I collaborate extensively with other dental specialists and general dentists. I use digital tools in the planning and implementation of treatment.
In my work, I believe it is important to create a trusting and supportive atmosphere in order to achieve treatment goals. At my practice, patients will meet a friendly, approachable, and cheerful orthodontist with whom it is easy and safe to discuss matters related to orthodontic treatment.
It is important to me to work closely with the patient, their parents, and the rest of the care team to ensure that the end result of orthodontic treatment is both a functional bite and a healthy, beautiful
smile.
